Architectural Approach

Fundamentally the process is about understanding who you are and how you want to live now and in the future. People are very different and have different needs, priorities, desires and tastes. Design should not be prescriptive, it is a service and you are the client.

I design in an inside out way first concentrating on the inside of the building; this is the space you will be living in most of the time. Once the inside is roughly understood then I start to look at the external envelope and its impact on that space. The initial stages are loose and ideas are generated and thrown away or adopted.

Before training as an architect I had years of experience in bespoke furniture which gave me a great understanding of materials, processes and tolerances.
